2007 MASTER'S PROGRAMME IN MANUFACTURING MANAGEMENT 120 hp
Aim/vision In recognition of the need for a new generation of manufacturing managers, the Linköping Institute of Technology has identified a competitive edge in the intersection between Technology and Operations Management. The state-of-the-art program in Manufacturing Management is a dedicated effort to offer a unique and sought-after engineering competence in this challenging area. The aim of the program is to educate the manufacturing managers of tomorrow, and to prepare them for the changing demands around the globe. The program is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in manufacturing management and who would like to be involved in international aspects of manufacturing. The faculty involved in the program follows technological trends and developments, acknowledge the problems experienced and research questions raised by industrial firms and continuously expand the international network for education and research. The most important contributor to your success in this program is your own proactive participation. The student body is international in nature, providing many chances for exchange of ideas and experiences, as well as building networks. Together we are well equipped to offer a program that will prepare you in an excellent way for the interesting, ever-changing and rewarding tasks of manufacturing management in an international setting.
Programme goals The focus lies on formulating, analysing, and solving problems that are relevant to the manufacturing firm. The competencies that the students acquire match the challenges that industrial firms meet in a competitive and global market. The student will also be well suited for doctoral studies in a manufacturing related research area, while developing a critical and reflecting mind throughout the studies.

Content of the Programme The compulsory courses are concerned with operations strategy, product development, manufacturing planning and control, corporate finance, project management, operations management project, and research methodology. Optional courses can be chosen in a variety of areas such as quality technology, production systems, mathematical statistics, optimization, and economic information systems
Master Thesis The thesis should include high quality scientific research within a specific research area in field of Manufacturing Management. Subject areas for the thesis work are subject for later decision.
Requirements for a degree The programme is designed to give the Master's degree "Teknologie masterexamen med huvudområde Industriell ekonomi", translated to Degree of Master (Two Years) of Science with a major in Industrial Engineering and Management. The requirements are the following:
