Entrance Requirements
- Minimum admission requirements for master's programmes taught in English include a degree from an internationally recognized university equivalent to a Bachelor's degree at a British university. The university has to be listed in the latest edition of the International Handbook of Universities/World List of Universities or Other Institutions of Higher Education*.
* European students within the EU/EES who do not hold such a degree are eligible provided they can show that they are registered for the last semester of a programme leading to such a degree. An official document stating that they are likely to be awarded the degree by the start of the programme must be sent in with the application.
- Language requirements:
Applicants to master's programmes taught in English must also prove that they have a very good command of English, both written and oral. This is normally attested by means of an international language test:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test and 79-80 on the internet-based test.
- International English Language Testing Service (IELTS), minimum score of 6,0, no band lower than 5,0
- Cambridge ESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English/CPE or Certificate in Advanced English/CAE.
Students with previous studies at a university with English as the only language of instruction, according to the latest edition of International Handbook of Universities/ World List of Universities and Other Institutions of Higher Education, do not have to take any language test
- In addition to the general requirements, the applicant must also meet the special requirements that apply to the different programmes:
- Applied Ethology and Animal Biology, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in biology; including an advanced course in ethology or equivalent subject, at least 12 ECTS credits, and an advanced course in animal physiology or ecology or molecular genetics, at least 12 ECTS credits.
- Biomedical engineering, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in biomedical, electrical, physical, biological or computer engineering or with a major in electronics or physics.
Also the equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics (calculus, linear algebra, vector calculus, complex functions) and 10 ECTS credits in physics (mechanics, thermal and statistical physics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics) qualify for application. If the applicant has another degree it must be conformant to ABET (American Board of Engineering and Technology) specification for Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. The applicant must also have passed and have learning outcomes in anatomy and physiology at a minimum of 5 ECTS credits on basic level. There will be possibilities to qualify during the first semester in anatomy and physiology
- Computational Sciences, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in mathematics, physics, mechanics, or biosciences, including basic courses equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics (calculus, linear algebra, vector calculus, complex functions) and at least one course each in numerical methods and a common computer programming language. Experience in the use of computers is also expected
- Computer Science, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, information technology, software engineering or computer engineering, including the equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics. Alternatively the applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a minor in Computer Science or related subject area, a minimum of 60 ECTS credits in computer related subjects (e.g. programming, data structures, data bases, software engineering, computer hardware, data networks) and a minimum of 30 ECTS credits in mathematics (e.g. continous and discrete mathematics, statistics)
- Computer Systems
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering, including the equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics (e.g. continous and discrete mathematics, statistics).
- Ecology and the Environment, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in biology including an advanced course in ecology or equivalent subject, at least 12 ECTS credits, and a course in statistics, at least 6 ECTS credits.
- Energy and Environmental Engineering, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in an engineering subject, including the equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics.
- Engineering Mechanics, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with a major in mechanical engineering subject, including the equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics (calculus, several variables).
- Management of Innovation and Product Development
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Engineering degree, including the equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics (calculus, algebra and probability theory).
- Manufacturing Management, 120 hp
Applicants are expected to have Bachelor's degree with a major in industrial engineering and management or mechanical engineering including the equivalent of at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics (calculus, algebra and probability theory) and basic courses in microeconomics and production/operations management.

Ranking of applicants
The applicants are ranked according to the grades of courses that compile the entrance qualifications. If it is not possible to evaluate the grades of the courses that compile the entrance qualifications an individual evaluation will be done.
Master thesis
The master thesis is a synthesis of the knowledge and ability of the student to do an own assignment. Training to plan, carry out and present an independent work as well as establish contact with research and developmental work. For the extent of and prerequisities for the thesis see the programme plan.
The subject is chosen together with the supervisor and shall be within the field of the corresponding attended courses. The work may include collaboration with other Master Thesis projects although each project is clearly defined and carried out independently with support of individual tutorage. The assignment is done by the student and overlooked and guided by the supervisor and in close contact to the research and/or developing-frontier of the subject. The project includes an introductory planning and a presentation of how to carry out the work. Finally the student will present a written report as well as defend the work by an oral presentation.
