Valid for year : 2007

NFYB47 Measurement Technology, 7,5 ECTS credits.
/Mätteknik/

For:   Fys

Prel. scheduled hours: 66
Rec. self-study hours: 134

  Area of Education: Science

Subject area: Physics

  Advancement level (G1, G2, A): G1

Aim:
The course should give skills in theortical and practical measurement methods for measuring of both electrical and non-electrical quantities, applied signal analysis and methods to reduce interference. The course should also give enough skills enabling setting up a measurement system and the use of measurement systems comprising PC's and measuring devices equipped with "interface for instrument bus". The course should, futhermore, make it easier to pass constructively and independently lab moments in following physics courses.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Attended or attending NFYB41 Electronics.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lessons, laboratory work and project.

Course contents:
Transducer for conversion of physical quantities, for example dimension, pressure, force, temperature, flux and acceleration to electrical quantities. Measuring with different types of oscilloscopes: oscilloscope with sweep delay, digital storage oscilloscope, digital and analog sampling oscilloscope. Measuring technical standard methods, bridges, sensitivity optimizing, elimination of interference. Applied signal analysis. Fourier analysis. Correlation. Signal analysis with spectrum analyser. Measuring and steering with computer. Interface for example instrument bus, digital/analog-conversion and analog/digital-conversion. Data processing, data storage and presentation.

Course literature:
Beckwith, Marangoni Mechanical Measurements. 5th edition. Svärdström: Tillämpad signalanalys. Studentlitteratur. Off-prints and laboratory instructions
