Aim:
To teach students the foundations of sinlge-variable analysis.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Admission to the course requires, as well as general university entrance requirements, secondary school matematics E (or equivalent).

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures and problem classes.

Course contents:
The concept of function. The elementary functions. Limits. Continuity. Derivatives. Mean value theorem. Extremal values. Graph sketching. The Riemann integral.Techniques of integration. Area, arc length. Taylor's formula. Generalized integrals and numerical series. Power series. Ordinary differential equations.
