Aim:
To teach students the more advanced theory of ordinary differential equations.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
NMAA12 Linear Algebra, NMAA13 Mathematical analysis I and NMAB13 Mathematical analysis II (or their equivalent).

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures and problem classes.

Course contents:
Picards existence theorem. Second-order linjear differential equations with variable coefficients (Boundary-value problems with the help of Green's functions). Power-series solutions. Sturm's comparison theorems. Systems of linjear differential equations, fundamental systems of solutions. Stability theory for planar autonomous systems. Liapunov's theorem.
