Aim:
To give a broad overview of numerical methods for the solution of
mathematical problems. Relatively little detailed analysis of the computational algorithms is given.
Different methods are presented together with the principles used to develop them.
Computer exercises using MATLAB shall illustrate the importance
of a proper problem formulation and interpretation of results.
|
|
Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Basic knowledge of mathematics as taught in the first term of
the mathematics program, NMAA12 Linear Algebra and the first
part of NMAB13 Mathematical
Analysis II.
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.
