Valid for year : 2005

TMMS01 Mechatronics, 7,5 ECTS credits.
/Mekatronik/

For:   M

Prel. scheduled hours: 70
Rec. self-study hours: 130

  Area of Education: Technlogy

Subject area: Mechanical Engineering

  Advancement level (A-D): D

Aim:
The objective of this course is to give knowledge about building and function of mechatronic systems. This option concerns both the mobile and industrial sector and also automation technology. The course has a focus on system aspects where control and measurement techniques are central parts. The practical object of the course is to give a base for dimensioning and building of mechatronic systems. Modern tools for analyses in form of simulation program are used.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
TMHP20 Fluid Power Systems, TSRT15 Automatic Control M

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Supplementary courses:
TMHP51 Hydraulic Servo Systems, TMMV52 Computational Heat Transfer, TMMS02 Models of Mechanics

Organisation:
The teaching consists of lectures, lessons and laboratory exercises.

Course contents:
Basic theory: Modelling of components and systems. Simulation technique: Simulation of system dynamics. Measurement technique: Measurement of flow, velocity, position, tempe-rature, pressure etc. Background of energy technology, system aspects, sensors and signal processing. Servo systems for control of position, velocity and force. Control principles and dynamic behaviour.

Course literature:
Mechatronics ?" Electronic Control Systems in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, W. Bolton, ISBN 0 582 35705-5. Compendium, LiTH. Extract from books, articles in journals etc.

Examination:
