Aim:
The aim of the course is to give knowledge of the possibilities and limitations in the design of feedback control systems for multivariable dynamic systems. The course shall also give knowledge of modern methods for design of multivariable control systems and experience of software tools for these purposes.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
I: TSRT 19 Automatic Control I, TAMS 15 Mathematical statistics, first course for I. Recommended: TSDT69 or TSDT 71 Circuit Theory. M: TSRT 15 Automatic Control M, TAMS 11 Probability and Statistics, first course. Recommended: TSRT 30 Automatic Control, advanced course.

Organisation:
The course consists of lectures, lessons and laboratory work.

Course contents:
Multivariable linear systems. Disturbances and Kalman filters. Fundamental limitations in feed-back control. Decoupling controllers. Internal model control (IMC). LQG-control. Loop shaping. Analysis of nonlinear systems. Stability, linearization, phase plane.
