Aim:
The aim is to give an introduction to geographic information technology as well as deeper knowledge about the GIS as a tool for engineers. After the course the students should
- be familiar with basic geographic information technology and understand the difference between ordinary and geographic information systems
- be familiar with the most important application areas for GIS within planning for traffic and transportation
- understand how GIS-applications are designed and be able to create an application using a GIS-program
-be able to work independently with computers from written laboratory instructions and developed their skills to present the result in clear and well structured reports
