AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for, discuss and analyse the health and motor and social development of children.
- demonstrate how the health and motor and social development of children may be stimulated and developed.
- plan, carry out and evaluate thematic work in the different parts of the subject of sports that the course covers
- reflect on the own and others' leadership and demonstrate good leadership in the exercises carried out in the course
- critically relate to and be able to apply current steering and goal documents in the area
- carry out a minor project work where the student independently researches, uses, compares and reviews current research and literature in the area, and motivates the choice of method.
CONTENTS
There are three central concepts in the course: the motor development of children, the social development of children and the health of children. To develop knowledge and readiness concerning these concepts, the tools that the subject of physical education traditionally involves, such as games, outdoor activities, dance, gymnastics, athletics, orientation, ball games etc. are applied
Other fields covered in the course are children in need of special support, leadership, the importance of reflection, exercise training, sports in society, and assessment and evaluation. The student will also carry out a minor project work within the framework of the course.


TEACHING
The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars, group assignments, overnight stays, study visits, field studies and independent studies.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through written, oral and visual presentations, individually and in groups. Individual project work that is presented orally and in writing.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

at least four completed semesters of teacher education or equivalent.
GRADING
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
