AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- plan, carry out and evaluate thematic work with aesthetic working methods as the starting point, where a special-educational approach is observed
- analyse own and others' leadership and group processes in parts of educational activities
- carry out performance reviews related to current steering and goal documents and analyse them in an observational study
- carry out a project work where he/she independently searches, uses, compares and critically reviews current research and literature in the area, and motivates his/her choices of method
CONTENTS
The course contains studies in aesthetic domains with a general special-educational approach. Theories of children in need of specific support, special education and aesthetic learning processes are included in the course, and also studies in and practical applications of different working methods and learning environments within the aesthetic field of work. Creating opportunities for learning with aesthetic working methods as the starting point is emphasised. The course also contains an observational study of performance reviews and a project work about the individual at school.
TEACHING
The course is carried out based on problem-based learning (PBL) with an aesthetic and special-educational approach. In the course, lectures, seminars, workshops, critical review, study visits, observations, field studies and course assignments are included, both individually and in groups. Studies and processing of literature, individually and in groups, are also included
EXAMINATION
The course is examined partly through an independent project work presented orally and in writing and through a written examination with portfolio as the basis.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
