| AIM OF THE COURSE |
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for and illustrate how media work based on visual literacy and the expanded concept of texts may manifest in school
- reflect on didactic questions and applications in the area of visual literacy, visual communication, media and learning.
- apply and combine learning processes through image, film and stage performance.

| CONTENTS |
During the course, the student will work based on didactic issues of image and learning. Central themes of the course are children's and adolescents' visual literacy and the possibilities of the expanded concept of texts mainly in primary and lower-secondary school. The course has a laboratory structure aiming to develop skills. Reflection on and applications of theories within the area develop the ability to combine theory and practice.

| TEACHING |
| Seminars, exercises in image, film and stage performance, individual assignments, group assignments and literature studies are included in the course. Outside of scheduled time, the student documents and reflects on the course contents in portfolio form. |
| EXAMINATION |
The course is examined through active participation in presentations of compulsory individual assignments, group assignments and a written examination.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |

| A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course |
| CERTIFICATE |
| Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division. |

in question. |

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed. |
