AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the students should be able to
- apply knowledge in improvement knowledge and systematic improvement work
- apply knowledge of strategies and tools for learning-driven change management
- use relevant information resources and information retrieval strategies
- plan, implement, analyse, document and communicate competitive intelligence/information retrieval from a critical, scientific and ethical perspective
- account for educational perspectives and methods that promote the development of information literacy
- apply and supervise competitive intelligence work and information retrieval in connection with work-place improvement processes
- demonstrate knowledge of planning, management and supervision of learning-driven improvement processes
CONTENTS
The general aim is that the student should have basic knowledge, on completion of the course, to be able to organise and lead a work-place improvement process and be able to supervise improvement knowledge and improvement processes based on relevant competitive intelligence/information retrieval.

From an interdisciplinary, above all information science, organisational theory related and educational perspective, the course covers:
- Basic perspectives on improvement knowledge and change management
- Theories and strategies for learning-driven change management
- Models, methods and tools for improvement knowledge
- Strategies for competitive intelligence and business intelligence
- The concept of information literacy related to improvement knowledge and evidence-based practice as well as information retrieval as a learning process: searching, critically reviewing, evaluating and utilising information related to improvement processes
- psychology of change, motivation-building actions in improvement work, conflict management
- Planning, leading and supervising learning-driven improvement processes
- The leader and supervisor role

TEACHING
Lectures, seminars, independent work/group assignments based on reality-based cases/scenarios and real starting points brought from the participants' own activities. The course provides an opportunity for advanced studies in a chosen field relevant to the course, studies or field of work. The students should also study independently.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through an advanced assignment documented in a paper that is presented and ventilated at a final seminar. Detailed information about the assignment can be found in the course study guide.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The course participants are expected to have some prior knowledge of improvement knowledge from the course Profound Knowledge of Improvement, Learning and Information Literacy (7.5 HE credits) or the equivalent knowledge (decided in consultation with the examiner).
GRADING
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
