AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the students should, on an advanced level within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change, be able to
- communicate effectively and appropriately with different groups in different scholarly, professional and broader public fora, related to different career paths within the field;
- critically reflect, account for and assess the conditions for effective and appropriate ways to intervene and communicate in scholarly and professional fora;
- demonstrate skills as regards effective and appropriate academic and professional communication in speech and writing, including the ability to report clearly and discuss conclusions and arguments;
- combine creative and academic writing methods and to use theatre and other oral performance formats pedagogically in academic and other professional or broader public contexts.
CONTENTS
The course includes
- effective and appropriate methods to communicate with different groups in academic and other professional contexts, and methods for communicating with a broader public , related to different career paths within the field;
- methods to critical reflect, analyse and assess the conditions for effective and appropriate communication in scholarly and professional fora;
- effective and appropriate methods for academic and professional communication in speech and writing, including methods for reporting clearly and discuss conclusions and arguments;
- relevant methods to combine creative and academic writing methods for using theatre and other oral performance formats pedagogically in academic and other professional or broader public contexts.
TEACHING
The teaching is based on workshop formats and takes place on campus. To prepare for the workshops, students shall study the course literature independently. The students shall also communicate with each other in peer learning groups, supervised by student tutors. Under supervision, students construct scenarios relating to career paths in the field, and try-out different communication skills in exercises, related to the scenarios. Language of instruction: English
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through active participation in face-to-face workshops on campus, which includes participation in role play assignments, as well as via written assignments.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor’s degree in the humanities and/or social sciences with at least 30 credits in Gender Studies or equivalent qualifications and documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paper based 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet based 90), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent.
GRADING
The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
