AIM OF THE COURSE | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
On completion of the course, the students should, on an advanced level within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change, be able - to demonstrate the ability in speech and writing to make academic interventions in complex academic and professional debates, and to communicate appropriately with different groups in different scholarly, professional and broader public fora; - to critically reflect and account for effective and appropriate ways to intervene in scholarly and professional fora relevant for at least two different career paths. |

CONTENTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The students acquire overview knowledge, critical understanding and practical skills as regards effective and appropriate ways to intervene in scholarly and other professional academic and public fora, including knowledge and skills as regards relevant ways to combine creative and academic writing methods and to use theatre and performance formats pedagogically in academic and other professional or broader public contexts. Students learn to assess conditions for effective and appropriate interventions in scholarly, professional and public communication related to relevant career paths. Under supervision, they construct scenarios relating to career paths in Gender Studies - Intersectionality and Change, and try-out different communication skills in exercizes, related to the scenarios. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The teaching is based on workshop formats and takes place on campus. To prepare for the workshops, students shall study the course literature independently. EXAMINATION | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The course is examined through active participation in face-to-face workshops on campus, which includes participation in roleplay assignments, and via written assignments. Detailed information about the examination can be found in the programme’s study guide. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination. Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |

A bachelor’s degree in the humanities and/or social sciences with at least 30 credits in Gender Studies or equivalent qualifications and documented knowledge of English equivalent to ”Engelska B”; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paperbased 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet-based 90), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent. |

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
