On completion of the course, the students should, on an advanced level within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change, be able - to critically identify, select, reflect, assess and account for relevant methods against the background of an overview knowledge of methodological debates; - to demonstrate the ability to design and carry out a pilot study of a self-selected topic, relevant for the field, using one or more of the methods presented at the course; - to critically reflect on and to argue for the relevance of the chosen topic, project design and analytical strategies of pilot study; - to demonstrate specialized in-depth knowledge of a certain area of the field via the completion of pilot study. |

The course includes: - methodological debates within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change; - methods for designing, carrying out and writing a pilot study relevant for the field, such as, for example, writing, interviewing, dialoguing and theatre performance as methods of inquiry, use of online tools as a method of inquiry, textual and visual analysis, ethnographic methods, policy analysis and action research methods, as well as selected quantitative methods. |

Lectures followed by discussions take place in the online classroom. Furthermore online-seminars and -workshops are carried out. In between online-seminars and -lectures students study the course literature independently and communicate with each other online, supervised by tutors. The course includes that the students carry out a pilot study of a self-selected topic within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change. The course is examined through active participation in online-seminars and -workshops, through continuous written individual assignments, submitted online, and through a pilot study, which is to be documented in a written report, submitted online. Detailed information about the examination can be found in the study guide. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for reexamination. Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. Bachelor’s degree in the humanities and/or social sciences with at least 30 credits in Gender Studies or equivalent qualifications. Documented knowledge of English equivalent to ”Engelska B” or an internationally recognized test e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paperbased 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet-based 90), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent. |
