On completion of the course, the student should be able to: - account for basic concepts, theories and models in the following fields: change and development work in organisations, leadership in organisations, interpersonal communication, and supervision and coaching. - describe, analyse and critically review the conditions for change and development work in organisations, leadership as an educational influence process for learning and development in organisations, and different practical methods and techniques for supervision and coaching, as well as factors and conditions that may influence the supervision and coaching process and its outcome - establish an evaluation plan for change and development work in an organisation - lead, analyse and give feedback on two-part conversations that are in the form of interviews - plan, carry out and evaluate supervision and/or coaching |

CONTENTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Education is a scientific discipline that addresses the influence processes through which people are formed and transformed in different social contexts during life. The course comprises four modules. Change Processes in Organizations, 7.5 HE credits (Förändringsarbete i organisationer) This module covers concepts, theories and models in the field of change and development work in organisations, e.g. culture, structure, participation and systems perspective. The course also covers the conditions for implementation of change and development work in organisations. Also highlighted are methods and models for implementation, and evaluation of change and development work in organisations. Leadership for Learning and Development, 7.5 HE credits (Ledarskap för lärande och utveckling) This module covers leadership on the basis of several basic theoretical perspectives and traditions. More specifically, the focus is on leadership as an educational influence process and on the importance of leadership for learning and development in various types of organisations. The course also covers the conditions for leaders' learning and development. Interpersonal Communication, 7.5 HE credits (Kommunikation och samtalsmetodik) This module covers both theoretical grounds for communication and practical elements. Within the framework of the interest fields of pedagogy, the focus is mainly on interpersonal communication. Basic communication theory, in the form of models and concepts, is introduced and discussed. A part of the course consists of conversational exercises, where the students are given the opportunity to apply and analyse different communicative approaches and techniques, for example what may promote or hinder communication in a specific situation. Supervision and Coaching, 7.5 HE credits (Handledning och coachning) This module covers basic theories and views that relate to supervision and coaching with application in various scopes of practice. Further, a selection of the practical working models, methods and techniques that are on the market is analysed. The supervision/coaching process is covered, along with questions regarding approach and ethical dilemmas and positions. During the course, the participants also do practical exercises with supervision. |

The teaching mainly takes the form of lectures, seminars, group assignments and practical exercises. Apart from the scheduled time, the students are expected to study independently, individually and/or in groups. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
EXAMINATION | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The examinations are in oral and written form. Examination is carried out on several occasions during the course. More detailed information can be found in separate course instructions. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination. Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |
