Current Theoretical Discourse in Sociology, 7.5 HE credits (Aktuell teoridiskussion) This module covers current specialisations in contemporary sociological theory. The students should independently relate these to one another and to empirical research results. The module gives an opportunity for deeper theoretical problematising of a field of research and theory that is relevant to the thesis work. Advanced Research Methods, 7.5 HE credits (Sociologisk metod) The students should deepen their methodological knowledge within a field of relevance for their own thesis work. The choice of method is analysed from a science theory perspective, with an emphasis on the role that methods have in the research process. In this course, method problems and proposals for solutions are presented with examples from contemporary sociological research. Thesis, 15 HE credits (Uppsats) In the main part of the course, the students carry out a study, based on a chosen problem area, where sociological theory and empirical data are used in an independent way. The personal critical reflection is in focus. The essay should satisfy the theoretical, methodological and disposition requirements that are set for second-cycle studies. |
