AIM OF THE COURSE
After completion of the course the students should be able to:
- explain the different theories and perspectives in international business
- analyze the factors underpinning corporate globalization processes , including , establishment of shapes and strategies , and the internalization of the value chain
- systematically analyze and reflect on the fundamental challenges and problems that arise in companies with global operations
- analyze the impact of international trade on competition , pricing, product differentiation and market structures .
CONTENTS
The course aims is to analyze selected topic in various areas of corporate value chains in a globalized world.

The course aims is to integrate the national economy and business overall aspects regarding international business. The first part focuses on the outside world importance for international active companies by discussing, among other things, globalization trends, trade theories, global investment flows and economic integration. Based on this, the second part focuses on the company's strategic challenges in a global context in terms of international expansion, establishment process, how to enter new markets and why.

The course covers the following topics:
- Theories of the driving forces behind international trade and specialization
- Theories of sourcing activities
- Effects of international trade competition, pricing, product differentiation and market structures
- Internationalisation processes, forms of establishment and establishment strategies
- The relationship between internationalization, economic growth and business efficiency
TEACHING
Classical lectures that might be combined with lectures held by guests from the private and/or public sector. Homework and independent study are a necessary complement to the course.
EXAMINATION
Written examination. Detailed information about the examination can be found in the course’s study guide

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Completed Economics , Basic Course 30 credits with at least 15 credits approved or equivalent.
GRADING
The course is graded on the following scale: Pass with distinction; Pass; Fail.
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
