On completion of the course, the student should be able to - critically review health and welfare organisations from different socio-psychological theories, - carry out a theoretical analysis of the interplay between client/patient, profession and organisation, - demonstrate an advanced understanding of the research process, - plan and design studies with an advanced quantitative as well as qualitative method, - independently carry out a study, analyse and present collected data with a relevant scientific and theoretical anchorage and considering ethical aspects. |

The Individual in the Health and Welfare Organization, 7.5 HE credits (Individen i vård- och omsorgssystemet) In the course, theoretical perspectives and central concepts within social psychology are covered. An important element is to, based on socio-psychological conceptualisation, examine and analyse the interplay and communication of individuals and groups in an organisational context. This comprises the interplay between staff, user and organisation, as well as socio-psychological aspects on organisations in change. Central socio-psychological concepts and processes that are covered are, for example, identity formation, occupational socialisation, communication and conversation, as well as power. Research Methodology II, 7.5 HE credits (Vetenskaplig metod II) - The logic of the research process of qualitative method approaches - Data collection techniques - Descriptive and theory-generating qualitative analysis, respectively - Presentation of results - Quality criteria. Thesis, 15 HE credits (Uppsats) The student should write a work, based on scientific theorising and research, and choose models, technologies and methods. The essay should satisfy the theoretical, methodological and disposition requirements that are set for the advanced level. The essay should contain a critical reflection on the own work and follow the formalities that the supervisor and examiner prescribe. |

Apart from participating in lectures and reading literature, the student should participate in group assignments and, independently or in groups, carry out prescribed seminar assignments and write an essay. The student should, independently or with another student, based on scientific theorising and research and with own choices of models, technologies and methods write an individual assignment. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
EXAMINATION | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The examination formats vary, depending on the contents and set-up of the different modules. The course is examined continuously via defence and review of group assignments and prescribed assignments, and essay at compulsory seminars. The student should defend his or her independent work, carry out a review of other work and participate actively in planned thesis activity. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination. Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |

Passed Management of Health and Welfare Organization, basic course, 30 HE credits and completed Management of Health and Welfare Organization, continuation course, with at least 22.5 HE credits passed, which should include a method course comprising 7.5 HE credits and a project comprising 7.5 HE credits.
