On completion of the course, the student should be able to: - demonstrate extended and advanced knowledge and skills in the Spanish subject, - demonstrate familiarity with scientific theories and methods in the study field, - independently carry out a limited research assignment. |

CONTENTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Essay 15 HE credits The student carries out an independent, smaller research assignment in Spanish language, literature or cultural science or in the didactic field. This is presented in an essay in Spanish, comprising about 25-30 pages. In doing this, the general research methodology competence will be improved. Theories and methods linked to the research field of the essay provides the basis for the thesis work. Language and Culture in Europe 7.5 HE credits The course contains a comparative and historical overview of the emergence, mutual relations and special character of the modern European languages and the modern European literature. The relationship between linguistic phenomena and cultural and social contexts are emphasised, as well as current theorising and methodology in the area. In-depth course, 7.5 HE credits The module contains an in-depth subject study with a focus on Spanish language, literature and cultural science problems and orientation about scientific theories and methods. The course is based on text studies. |

Apart from independent studies of the reading list, work with examination assignments, studies of earlier research before the thesis work and preparation of the essay, the course includes scheduled activities in the form of lectures, seminars, examinations, group work and individual supervision. EXAMINATION | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The subparts are examined according to the following: Essay: The examination comprises the essay, which is reviewed at a seminar. Language and culture in Europe: Two independent written assignments. Advanced course: Compulsory attendance and active participation in seminars and an oral and written test. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination. Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |

Passing grades in Spanish, basic course, continuation course and in-depth course, each comprising 30 HE credits. In addition to the above, documented knowledge in Swedish and English is required, equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle studies. |

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
