Aim:
The objective of the course is to give the student knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA), both in theory and in practise. Contents, requirements and when an EIA should be presented are vital questions. Legislation and application of EIA are discussed.

Prerequisites:
Environmental Science and Environmental Technology preferred but not compulsory.

TFMÄ 82, Technical Environmental Chemistry, TFMÄ 85 Environmental Measurement Technology, TFMÄ 87 Environmental Management Strategies, TFMÄ 90 Life Cycle Assessment and Ecodesign.

Course organization:
The course includes lectures, seminars and assignments.

Course content:
Construction of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). EIA as a process and/or a product. EIA and national planning. The citizens possibilities to influence. How to review an EIA. Decision-makers and citizens and their use of an EIA. Comparison with different EIA-systems.
