Aim: The aim of the course is to give knowledge on the use of information technology (IT) in business and government organisations. It should also give an understanding of the basic components in an information system and the use of information systems in an organisation. Furthermore, the course aims Prerequisites: TEIE 08 Basic course in industrial economics. Course organization: The course is given as a series of lectures and seminars. Course content: There are four major areas that are discussed in the course. 1. Basic definitions of information systems, information and decision making. 2. Functional and process views of information system support in organisations. 3. Different applications of IT and demands on infomration support, new business and work forms facilitated by IT and the strategic role of IT. 4.
