Aim:
The course is intended to teach the students how to use statistical theory and to analyse and interpret data from random experiments.

Prerequisites:
Calculus, algebra, differential and integral calculus, power series and differential equations.

Course organization:
Teaching consists of lectures and lessons.

Course content:
Poisson process. Birth- and death-processes. Queueing theory. Statistics: Point estimation. Uncertainty in estimators. The method of maximum likelihood, the method of moments and the method of least squares. Confidence interval. Test of hypothesis. Goodness of fit tests. Simple linear regression.
