Aim:
The aim of the course is to give basic knowledge in the field of optoelectronics, including detection of analog and digital lightsignals as well as optical fibres as transmitter.

Prerequisites:
Participation in NFYC56 Solid State Physics and NFYC57 Physical Projects.

Course organization:
Theory is given in form of lectures which are completed with calculating exercises. Participation in projects and possible organized studytrips is compulsory.

Course content:
Opto-electronical basic knowledge : construction and function of detectors. Detector parameters. Noise in detectors. Optical communicationsystems. Analog and digital modulation. Choice of wavelength, emitter, detector and fibers. Optical fibers as transmitter.
