Aim:
The student should acquire knowledge about the structure of plants, their classification and develpoment as well as physiology. The student should, furthermore, practise independent work and an examination through planning, realizing and discussing.

Prerequisites:
Accepted to the educational program of biology with participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), biologycourses of 20p according to Biology 1 (NBIA01, NBIA02, NBIB15) or equivalent. Recommendation: NBIB10 Floristics/Faunistics 5p

Course organization:
Lectures, laboratory projects and seminars are included. The course includes also independent work, which includes chosing an interesting subject as well as getting training in discussing and presenting an examination.

Course content:
The course looks at the most important photosynthesizable groups and their history of development. The inner and outer structure of the plants are treated in accordance with their function. Photosynthesis, water resource management as well as growth and development are treated while looking at the different main groups. Mushrooms/sponges are looked at. The course looks, furthermore, at botanical applications within agriculture, forestry and horticulture.
