Aim: The course should give different perspectives on actual environmental problems as well as Swedish environmental and nature management. The student should, furthermore, get training in literature studies within the field of environmental management.Prerequisites: Accepted to the educational program of biology with participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), courses of 40p according Biology 1 and 2 (or equivalent). Course organization: The course contains lectures, compulsory studytrips and work in smaller seminargroups. Furthermore, the student is requested to critically review a few scientific articles within the subjects of the course, and present to the group. The course is examined through a written exam and oral presentations of the article reviews. Course content: The course looks at and discusses how we use important natural resources and which environmental problems they cause. Environmental problems such as acidification, eutrophication and reduction in biodiversity are discussed both locally and regionally. The problem of food security is an example of a problem discussed from a global perspective. Legal, political and economical aspects are briefly touched upon.Course literature: Information about the selected main course book is given before the course starts.
