Aim: The course intends to give deeper knowledge about the constructions, functions and use of the microcomputers.Prerequisites: TNDE 61 Digital Design TNDE 13 Microcomputers.Supplementary courses: TNIU 62 Signal ProcessorsCourse organization: Education in form of lectures/exercises and laboratory work. The course is finished with a project.Course content: Keyboard, video interface, floppy and hard disks. Microcontrollers: Architecture, characteristics, programming together with applications. 16/32-bit processor familys: Architecture, characteristics, programming together with applications. Floating-point arithmetic. Floating-point processors. Buses: Architecture, characteristics and interface circuits. Board computers based on 16/32-bits microprocessors with development systems for programming i high-level language and/or assembly. Construction of I/O-units for board computers. Application Specific Integrated Circuits. A project completes the course. The project comprises construction of a digital system in which a 16-/32-bits microprocessor become an integral part. The tasks are choosen from a project catalogue or is suggested by the students.
