TMHL07 Solid Mechanics, Basic Course, 6 ECTS-points
/Hållfasthetslära, grundkurs/

Advancement level:
C

Aim:
The aim of this course is to give a thorough understanding of basic concepts and definitions in Solid Mechanics. The student should be able to make use of simple sizing rules useful in basic engineering work and have a basis for further studies of the subject.

Prerequisites:
TATM 61, TATM 31, TMME 02

Course organization:
The course is given during period 3. It consists of a theoretical part and laboratory work gives.

Course content:
The course gives an introduction to solid mechanics. It discusses: Basic concepts and definitions; Simple homogeneous stress states; Deflections and stresses in beams; Torque applied to circular shafts; Stability of axially loaded columns Hooke's generalised law; Multidimensional stress and deformation analysis; Yield criteria
