TMEL04 Electrical Engineering, 4,5 ECTS-points
/Elektroteknik Im/

Advancement level:
C

Aim:
Electricity as a power source and as a bearer of information is a prerequisite for our modern society. The course in electrical engineering treats the generation, transmission and use of electric power in different equipments and measurements of non-electrical entities with the aid of electric methods. The course will give the student the necessary knowledge for understanding and treating electrical issues at home and in industry.

Prerequisites:
Linear algebra and electric circuit theory.

Course organization:
Lectures, lessons and exercises.

Course content:
Electrical measurement techniques with laboratory exercises covering measurements for heat exchangers (air flow, temperature, pressure), measurement of time, frequency and rotation speed as well as measurement of power and vibration. Electrical power technology with generation, transmission and use of electrical energy, various electrical machines, power electronics and variable-speed control of electric engines. The triphase system, laws and regulations, electrical hazards, and the electrical environment are also treated within electrical power technology.

Course literature:
Electric Power Engineering compendium. Problems. Laboratory manual.
