Aim: The objective of the course is to provide an overview of environmental conservation technologies used today. Also "Cleaner Production" aspects will be brought up. The aim is to give the student a comprehensive view of how environmental concerns are incorporated in production, usage and waste handling. Different effects on the environment caused by human activities are scrutinized and discussed at seminars. Biological and chemical aspects are treated only when necessary for understanding of the technology.Prerequisites: Environmental Science preferred but not compulsory.Supplementary courses: TFMJ 04 Environmental Measurement Technology TFMJ 05 Environmentally Sustainable Materials TFMJ 06 Environmental Management Strategies TFMJ 07 Life Cycle Assessment and Ecodesign TFMJ 08 Environmental Impact AssessmentCourse content: Sewage-treatment plants and handling of hazardous waste. Waste disposal methods such as incineration, composting, biogasification and landfill. Both household and industrial waste will be considered. Purification techniques especially for polluted air. "Cleaner Production" and improvement of processes. Recycling and environmentally adapted product development.
