TFMÄ01 Measurement technology, 3 ECTS-points
/Mätteknik, Y/

Advancement level:
B

Aim:
To provide basic knowledge of how to measure electrical and non-electrical quantities, give some practical experience in handling common electric measurement instrumentation including measurement computers, and awareness of problems connected with measurements.

Prerequisites:
TSDT 64 Basic Electronics and Measurement Technology, TFFY 39 Electromagnetic Field Theory

Supplementary courses:
TFMÄ 05 Sensor technology, TFMÄ 02 Computerized measurement systems

Course organization:
8 h lectures that partly deal with general measurement technology and partly some specific items concerning the laboratory part (5 experiments à 4 h). Continuous examination by question/problems after each experiment. A written report on one of the experiments in cooperation with the course "Practical Swedish".

Course content:
The course is mainly experimental with the objective to make contact with measurements and connected problems. Some concepts: Principles of digital voltmeters, digital oscilloscopes, frequency analysis, FFT, computers and measurements (GPIB, LabView), sensors, transmitters, components in a measurement system, electrical disturbancies, calibration.

Course literature:
Compendium and material dealing with the experiments.

LAB15 compulsory experiments, continuous examination., 2 p.
Course language is Swedish.
