| Aim: To provide the student an insight into a current research field and elucidate the importance, in different technical circumstances, of knowing the composition and structure in the outermost layers of a solid. Prerequisites: TFFY 28 Modern Physics, TFFY 54 Quantum Mechanics are recommended. TFFY 70 Physics of Condensed Matter I is desirable. Course content: The atomic composition and structure at surfaces of solids. Different surface analysis methods. Surface properties such as: work functions, surface states and surface diffusion.
