TFFY73 | Physics of Condensed Matter part II , 4,5 ECTS-points /Materiefysik, fk/ Advancement level: C
Aim: The course should give a deepened knowledge within key fields of the condensed matter physics. Prerequisites: TFFY 54 Quantum mechanics, TFFY 70 Physics of Condensed Matter, part ICourse organization: The course is given in form of lectures which include periods för solving problems. Parts of the course are treated in oral presentations by the students, in smaller groups. The course is given in English when it is needed.Course content: A theoretical treatment of magnetism in condensed matter and a description of applications of magnetism. An extended description of the mechanisms giving the optical properties of condensed matter. A combined phenomenological and theoretical treatment of superconductivity. A treatment of surfaces and interfaces in mainly semiconductors.Course literature: Kittel, C "Introduction to Solid State Physics", 7th ed., John Wiley, 1996. Compendium on the optics of the solid state.
TEN1 | A written examination including solving problems and theory questions, and active participation in the sessions with oral presentations by students, 3 p.
