Aim:
The course aims to give knowledge about some Swedish natural ecosystems as well as basic skills in doing research on them.

Prerequisites:
Accepted to the educational program of biology with participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), courses of 40p according Biology 1 and 2 (or equivalent). Recommendation NBIB10 Floristics/Faunistics 5p (or equivalent).

Course organization:
The course consists of lectures, laboratory work, seminars and excursions with team work in "östgötsk" nature. Seminars, laborations and excursions are compulsory.

Course content:
The relation of the indivual towards its surrounding world. Ecosystems' structure and different substance cycles in nature. Biological regions in Sweden and globally. The Nordic nature and the Baltic Sea's origin and development. Terrestrial, marine and limnisc ecology. Basic ecological researchmethods. Simple statistical analys in ecology.
