Aim:
The aim of this course is to give basic knowledge on how biotechnology is used today. Also some bioanalytical methods will be discussed.

Prerequisites:
TNKI 76 Biochemistry with Organic Chemistry, TNKI53 Applied Fluid Dynamics, TNKI80 Systemteknik, TNKI95 Chemical Engineering Design, (TNKI 83 Microbiology med Biotechnology).

Course organization:
The course has lectures/lessons and laboratories. There is also one large laboratory work, a deeper theoretical work that is reported in writing and orally, and study visits in- and outside the region.

Course content:
Introduktion to biotechnology. Repetition of biochemistry, microbiology and genetic engineering. Enzyme kinetics. Proteinseparation. Bioprocesses. Bioanalytical methods. Chemical sensors.
