Aim:
The course presents the basics of fluid dynamics and shows how these are applied in the unit operations of chemical engineering.

Lectures, tutorials and laboratory work

Course content:
Introduction to unit operations. Basic equations of hydrodynamics. Viscosity of fluids. Laminar and turbulent flow. Fluid Dynamic Unit Operations: Liquid and Gas transport Calculation of frictional losses in pipes Flow measurements Pumps Stirring Filtration Sedimentation Centrifugation Fluidisation A laboratory course for the practical study of unit operations will run in parallel with the theoretical part of the course.
