Aim:
The purpose of this course is to give the student in-depth studies of the control theory for electrical drives.

Prerequisites:
TNDE65 Power Electronics and TNDE66 Automatic Control, advanced course.

Course organization:
The teaching consists of lectures, exercises and laboratory work.

Course content:
Power electronics: Uninterruptible Power Supply. Electromagnetic compatability. Soft switching resonant converters. Power Factor Controllers. Control techniques in power electronics: modulation, flux in voltage-fed drive and current control. Control of electrical drives: tourqe production and dynamic modeling. Automatic control: A survey of continous-time and discrete-time control theory based on transfer functions and state-space descriptions. Laws of motion. Dynamic models for electric machines and modelling of electrical drives. Simulation of electromechanical drives. Time-optimal systems. Control of speed and position with converter fed electrical machines.
