Aim:
The purpose of the course is to provide knowledge about basic mathematical concepts and methods to serve as a basis for instruction in other courses, as well as to provide knowledge about the mathematical operations required to carry out the various calculations found in practical applications.

Prerequisites:
No special prerequisites beyond the introductory course.

Course organization:
Instruction in the form of lectures.

Course content:
The four rules of arithmetic. Powers. Arithmetic with rational numbers. Introductory algebra, formulas. Linear equations. Percents. Roots. Geometry. Trigonometry. Linear equation systems. Quadratic equations. Exponentials and logarithmic functions. Descriptive statistics. Use of computers and programmable calculators. Introduction to derivation and integration.
