Aim: The course aims at giving the student in depth knowledge of wood as a material and the means and methods for transferring logs and timber into useful products as furniture, doors etc manufactured in carpentry industries.Prerequisites: TMTR10, wood technology I.Course content: The course deals with solid wood in detail from a physical, chemical and mechanical point of view. Less impetus is given to wood composites but the students will nevertheless learn about the most important properties of OSB, MDF and other board products. Wood machining is dealt with in more detail and it is mandatory to study a fairly complex process in the wood manufacturing industry. The students must also build a small cabinet using machine planers, saws etc. Handicraft methods are also covered and a chess board is built at the department for Slojd.
