| Aim: This course aims at giving the students a basic knowledge of those problems, questions and possibilities arising in wood manufacturing industry dealing with furniture, window frames, doors, cabinets, etc. Prerequisites: The two basic years at the Institute of techology.Course content: Wood Technology I is aimed to give the basics about Swedish wood manufacturing industry. The course starts by "the planting of seeds" in the forest and ends with selling furniture in the EC-market. In between the course deals with plant physiology, wood chemistry, solid mechanics for wood etc. Wood machining, such as sawing, cutting, planing et c. as well as environmental problems, health hazards and transport issues are other topics of concern. Further courses: An advanced course, see TMTR 15, wood technology. Organisation: The course consists of lectures, lessons and laborations from different areas within the subject.
