Aim:
The course should give a general description of the function and use of the most common machine elements. It should also give a short introduction to aluminium and polymers as engineering materials and provide training in technical drawing and CAD.

Prerequisites:
TAMI 20 Mathematics, TMMI22 Mechanics.

Course organization:
The basic content is given in lectures and during supervised exercises.

Course content:
Part 1: Fastening elements ( bolts, rivets, springs, shaft connections...) and tribology ( theory of hydrodynamic lubrication, rolling element bearings, seals, plain bearings..) Part 2: Transmission elements ( gears, couplings, brakes, belt drives...), CAD and engineering materials.
