To familiarize the student with the basic laws and correlations within the mechanics of materials, as well as the ability to apply these to typical problems.

Course organization:
Instruction in the form of lectures, exercises, and laboratory exercises. Review of definitions and basic concepts. Simple homogenous conditions. Static undetermined problems. Shear. Torsion. Plane bending. Strain and deformation with pure bending. Shear stress with beam bending. Mohrâs circle. Dimensioning beams and shafts. Deformation with bending. Eulerâs load. Fatigue. Introductory FEM analysis.
