TMIA01 Ergonomics and Design, ECTS-points
/ERGONOMI - DESIGN/

Advancement level:
C

Aim:
- To acquire knowledge of fundamental concepts in ergonomics and the interaction between the user, products, and environments. A systems approach is taken where knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of the user is utilized to the design of tools, machines and systems. - To acquire knowledge in design methodology and design theory to develop a systematic work procedure. - To develop an understanding of economic and concurrent aspects of systems design including cost/benefit trade offs.

Course organization:
Lectures, class interaction and a design project which will integrate knowledge from this and earlier experiences in course work.

Course content:
Ergonomics as a discipline. Anthropometry and biomechanics, cognitive ergonomics, task analysis, usability engineering and experimentation. Human-computer interaction. Design methodology and design theory, concurrent design and life-cycle design. with respect to reuse, environmental and economics constraints, consumer requirements, and usability. Creativity in design.
