TMES11 Energy Systems, ECTS-points
/ENERGISYSTEM/

Advancement level:
C

Aim:
The course gives an insight to the technologies needed in the design of energy supply systems, mainly for tranformation of energy raw materials to electric energy and heat. The course is concentrated on systems aspects of energy use and energy supply and will treat aspects of components in exceptional cases only. The course will not only give knowledge of the construction and function of the energy systems but is also aiming at understanding the boundary conditions of the system.

Prerequisites:
Applied Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics

Course content:
The energy situation of Sweden, definitions and basic principles, the design and function of energy systems, heating in buildings, district heating systems, thermal power and combined heat and power plants, electricity distribution systems, costs of electricity generation and distribution, pricing, energy planning, optimization in energy systems analysis, forecasting methods, the characteristics of energy use in industry, housing etc, demand side management measures
