Aim:
The course describes the physical phenomena and principles which are used in the design of semiconductor devices. The participants of the course obtain the basic understanding of discrete devices and of integrated circuits, and the background which is necessary for understanding modern electronics.

Course content:
Basic semiconductor physics. Operation and limitation of pn-junctions, optical devices, bipolar transistors, field-effect transistors, and integrated circuits. An overview of processing of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits is given.
