Aim: On the basis of the integrating role of logistics, the course will give deep knowledge of logistic theories, logistic redesign methods and how theory could be practised. The course gives deeper theoretical knowledge on tactical and strategic level about economical possibilities with supply, production and distribution. The aim is to give understanding about the importance of information systems and surrounding world co-operation with logistic activities. Futhermore, the course gives basic knowledge in methodology and logistic redesign work can be done. Cases and an investigation task ( a seminar project ), dealing with a real problem in a company, give pracitcal experience of how teories are applicable.Prerequisites: TETS 01 or TETS15 Basic logistics M, or TETS07 Basic Logistics I TEIO33 or TEIO35 Industrial ManagementCourse organization: Lectures (also visiting lectures from indusry), cases and seminars. The seminar project is made in groups of 4 students and is reported in stages. Attendance at oral presentation of reports and oral opposition.Course content: The three main subject areas are: - Deepened logistics theory - Implementation - Application Deepened logistic theory starts with a lecture in systems analysis. The next part contains the îbricksî which include distribution theories, manufacturing planning and control, transformation of manufacturing systems and supply theories. Time based managment and competitive advantages through logistics is another part of the deepened part. Also a lecture in supply chain managment is given. Implementation includes investigation theories, measuring logistics, redesign of the logistics system and logitics organisation.
