| Aim: The purpose of the course is to provide a fundamental understanding of industrial project management in its various applications: product development, plant engineering and project sales, civil engineering and infrastructural projects. A key issue is the interaction between a company's projects and its line organization, and in what ways this interaction sustains or impedes long-term organizational learning. Prerequisites: TEIO33 or TEIO35 Industrial Management Either TEIO38 Structuring of Organizations or TEIO39 Leadership and Organizational ChangeCourse organization: A basic structure of lectures and seminars presents basic concepts illustrated by various case studies and invited guest speakers. In a parallel activity, groups of students study, analyze and report on selected real-life industrial projects. The course literature has two basic part: one is common for all participants, the other is related to and dependent on the live projects studied by a particular class. This design means that students partially control the choice of literature themselves.Course content: 1. Various types of industrial projects - from product development to construction. The importance of the project environment, the object and the professions. What is a "a successful project"? 2. The ABC of project management. Basic concepts, project finance, planning and administration. 3. Management and leadership in industrial projects. The various roles of the project team; project planning and control. Field study. 4. Industrial management and project management: permanent versus temporary organizations. The specificity of the project form: Task, time, team and threat. 5. From project to line organization.
