Aim: The aim of the course is to give knowledge on modern high-level design methods for developments of digital systems as well as basic understanding of modern CAD tools.Prerequisites: TSEA 10, 19, 20 Computer Hardware and Architecture (for Y, C och D). TDDB25 Programming: Abstraction and Modelling or TDDB 92/93 Programming in Incremental Systems.Course organization: The course is given as a series of lectures. Labs are organized around available CAD systems for the VHDL language.Course content: Studies of hardware modelling and design based on the hardware description language VHDL and available CAD tools. Different abstraction levels for hardware description together with methods for efficient design of big digital systems using hierarchical modelling techniques.Course literature: Navabi, Zainalebedin, "VHDL Analysis and Modelling of Digital Systems", McGraw-Hill, Electrical and Computer Engineering Series.
