TATM91	Applied Mathematics, ECTS-points /TILLÄMPAD MATEMATIK/ Advancement level: D
	Aim: Mathematical theories and methods are put in a larger context. Participants are encouraged to use the knowledge they have gained from all previous courses. Prerequisites: TATM 85, Functional Analysis, is helpful, but not a prerequisite. Course organization: Teaching is done in seminars. Course content: Active participation in the analysis of complex problems. Models are constructed for the physical and mathematical description of technical problems. These are then dealt with by different methods of solution, including algorithms and computer programmes constructed by the student. Great emphasis is placed on the whole process of problem solving: from model to results, interpretation and criticism. The distribution of tasks within larger projects and oral as well as written presentation of results and personal ideas, are central elements in the course. Course literature: A compendium.
